Man of the Night

written by: Jennifer Lynnette Matteson
Out on a beach, in the full moon light,
a chill kills the air, on this blessed night.
Up above, I see a tall man staring.
Looking serious, but also very caring.
He walks towards me, my heart pounding hard.
I'm suddenly afraid, also on my guard.
He pulls me to him, and we dance in the air.
I forget my fear, also every care.
His lips meet my neck he sinks his teeth in
Piercing the surface of my perfect skin.
A vampire he is, a Man of the Night.
Soon my trust turns into fright.
He drops me down, with his feeding done.
I ask him to help me. I'll tell no one.
But he walks on, and I shout "Why?"
"Tell me why I had to die?"
