    Darkness and Dreams

    author: Lynsay Klink
    category: Abstract
    Night's shadows, veiling like curtains;
Ice wind passing by, rustling dead leaves, piercing the skin,
    so cold, so cold.
Heart of glass shattered to pieces,
    Leaving a sharp, crooked trail.
Will tear through whoever crosses it, and be merciless to the tears and agony of those it pierces.
And clouds of gray mist lingering,
they're closing in, and fading the image so that
the shattered pieces are hard to see
And wandering ones will not be aware
Until they feel the sting slicing through them
And, soon enough, their hearts will shatter as well
And misery will have its companions
And the shatter of glass hearts will continue
And the shadows will conceal, shading and hiding
truth's face until there is nothing to hide because
the truth would be the bliss rather than the pain,
And the passing wind would bring comfort, rather than emptiness,
And the glass hearts would be not shattered, but whole once more,
And life would be a dream
from which you would never have to wake.
