    Goodbye, Uncle Tom

    Patricia L Howe
category: Death of a special relative

I find myself sitting on a plane
I do not have enough air to breathe
    Emotions raw, confused
    Hubby looks at me funny-
    watching, caring.

    Heartbreak takes many forms
    this is a strange one

Aren't plane rides supposed to be fun?
I dont want to go to Florida in July
    and

I am afraid of grieving you-
Blackened tears spilling across the tarmac-
    sizzling, white sun.
    Sadder than my eyes

    Heartbreak takes many forms
    this is a strange one

    no more sunsets to celebrate
no time to make coffee for sweet Loretta
no time left to just pal around
    your Italian eyes have closed.
