Last Journey of the Rabbit
written by: Colin Clarke
Category: Story
The windy day blow's across the desert plain,
a lonely rabbit wander's choosing not to stay,
and every step it takes closer to it's destination,
the lonliness tend's to fade into a mild elation,
the rabbit searches for food there's none upon the ground,
it tries to find a higher place, ahead there is a mound,
the only thimg there is to find a dead tree with no leaves,
it hop's inside the hollow tree the shade make's it cooler to see,
the rabbit grow's more tired it's had a very long day,
it feels it's time to sleep inside the tree it will lay,
the rabbit start's to dream of meadow's lush with green,
a tear trickle's from it's closed eye it's sad or so it seems,
the moon glow's high upon the desert plain so wide,
the rabbit wakes up to see the stars have filled the sky,
it decide's to travel at night more cooler than the day,
it's not much easier to see a lot harder to find it's way,
the rabbit remember's it's family memories of the past,
not all happy memories sad one's were the last,
it stop's to catch it's breath it look's up and begin's to sigh,
the rabbit grow's more weaker and light start's to fill the sky,
as the sun reaches high noon at it's peak when it's most hot,
the sky is filled with blue white cloud's there is not,
the rabbit take's one more look up and fall's onto it's side,
the rabbit blink's one more, one more memory one last breath and then it dies.
