    Melon-cauli

    written by: Steve B

I'm seventeen just starting out on this journey that is life,
Still years away, with time to play before becoming someone's wife,
I got bored last year so stayed off school, I'm still living at my mam's,
I thought I'd never get a job 'cos I didn't do any exams,
But I was surprised when mam's boyfriend, who we call uncle Reg,
Got me one, in the corner shop, that's selling fruit and veg.

I started there on Saturday from eight till half past five,
With an hour off for dinner it looks like quite a skive,
I have to keep the shelves filled up and that's about it until,
I've gained much more experience, then they'll let me on the till.
I can't wait until its pay day, then I'm heading for the town,
I'll drink alco-pops and cider and really party down!!

Ooh, now its Monday morning and I'm really feeling ill,
My head aches, I feel sick and need a morning after pill,
I went out last night, got really drunk, totally out of my head,
When I woke up this morning it was in someone else's bed,
I should have used protection, shouldn't have got right off my trolley,
Then I wouldn't be here on my own, feeling melancholy.
