The Note
written by: Colin Clarke
category: Ode
An old man lay's on his death bed
thinking of the word's his wife once said
"before I go you must tell me this,
don't mourn for me after the clock strikes six",
he said, " I can only promise you one thing
that I will never forget th way you have lived
and every year of your passing I shall mourn you till six
and when that time comes i'll remember you last wish",
as the man lay's in bed to sleep one last time
his son's come to him and sit by his side
the old man assures his son's that this is not goodbye
except it's farewell for a fairly long time,
"now when I have passed and am through with this life
don't mourn till six, not even till five"
his son's made the promise and every year that will pass
they celebrate his life and mourn his past,
when the buriel was over and the day was through
the two son's stayed there where their dad had been laid to
when they got back to his house they read a note that he left
not much was written on the paper just some word's that read
"you were my son's for a lifetime for that I am pleased
I am dead now before you two are deceased
it gives me great pleasure to say this to both of you
you are my son's, I love you its not goodbye just farewell and adiou.
