On Learning Nothing - The Hard Way
written by: Bryon D. Howell
category: Ode / Life
In life, I've learned so much about my way -
a dangerous, destructive way to live.
No ears to hear what people had to say -
no hands to lend. What's more? Nothing to give.
An inventory showed what I possessed ...
such pride and ego everywhere I turned!
The worst of defects all became my best -
no warnings heeded, lessons never learned.
A lustful soul, my self-will running wild.
Concerning wisdom, thought I had so much!
But falling short is all but cool and mild.
Today I see. I was - just out of touch!
In life, I've learned a lot and life is tough -
but yet I can't profess to know enough.
