One Step at a Time
written by: Bryon D. Howell
category: Ode / Life
Here on this mountain, I have reached new heights.
Up where the air is cool, and clean, and clear.
Since I have learned to face my dizzied nights -
today I know no apprehensive fear.
A solo course which only I can know.
No longer do I need another’s hand.
I've learned to love myself and just let go
I so not need some rock to help me stand.
As long as I am standing straight and tall,
the world below won't seem so cold to me.
No longer will I stumble, crumble, fall -
like air I will be weightless, wise and free!
I don't compromise my climb for anyone
and step by step I headed for the sun.
