Paper Boats
written by: Kubilay Akman
Category:
it's me, Aysha
near a lake of oil
where I used to send paper boats
to the other side
to my cousin Fatima
we knew danger of the lake
we frightened of it always
but near the lake of danger
we didn't do anything risky
except our paper boats
full of innocence, full of tenderness
and sometimes paper swans
carried our greetings on the lake
one day they came in greens
torches in their hands
to lighten our "darkness"
they threw torches in the lake
and this bloody illumination has occupied
days and nights, even our dreams
my paper boats were burned
my swans were burned
even ships and freighters of some children
have been burned, vanished
in this bloody illumination
