Please Know I Love You

I hardly know him, even though he's my dad.
All the pain he made me feel, I wish I never had.
I tell people I hate him, when it's the other way around.
And deep down inside me, my love for him I found.
People tell me he won't live, and that he's slowly dying.
Which causes me so much pain and grief, it's so hard to keep from crying.
So daddy please know I love you, and that I really care.
I really want you to live, if not my heart will tear.
