    Rising Sun

    written by: Julie Velkoska
    Category: Ode to Macedonia
    I travelled over distant waters
to see where I come from,
the history of the mountains land,
The land of the rising sun.

    I saw the peoples faces
    of hurt dispair and gloom,
My heart belongs to this country,
for I know I'll be back soon.

The luck we have we take for granted
    Not knowing of this dispair,
    our roots are here forever
    If only someone had cared.

I'll make this land a better place
    for all who have survived,
    the ravaged war and poverty
no need to tell a lie.

I feel your pain within my heart
    It's telling me to fight,
    for freedom, justice and poverty
    Macedonians will unite.

Dedicated to all my fellow Macedonians, who believe the sun will rise again.
