Set Her Free
written by: Jessica Murch
Category:Ode to a Friend
She stands tall.
Beauty of a thousand.
Inside and out.
Her hair the color of fire.
Burning like the desire in her heart.
She yearns for happiness, to be set free.
To feel no more.
She's in chains, living with the beast of burden.
A soul at home who cares no more.
She can not escape.
She seems to fade into the background.
But I notice her.
When she speaks her eyes tell her sad story, they plead for help.
They tell a story that no one can nor will ever understand.
She sits quietly.
In the solitude of her own mind.
I know she's there.
I outstretch my hand, she does not grasp it.
It is left alone.
She takes no help.
She just wants to be set free.
When she walks, dark clouds hang over her shoulders.
A sadness about her, you can see.
Her eyes, they scream, "set me free."
