Sitting on the Porch
written by: Irina S Mann
Category: Friendship
I can sit on the porch and say nothing,
And you would understand how I feel.
You would slip your fingers to my own,
And try to heal this broken hearted deal.
I can sit there feeling the misery of life,
And you would understand me through.
You would touch my shoulder just once,
And I would know the friend I have is you.
I can sit sobbing softly on the outside,
But you would know I am being brave.
You would hug me for several moments,
And I would show you I am being naïve.
I can sit here hearing how the birds sing,
But you would not say a word at all to me.
You would comfort me with your love,
And the contrast of birds will no longer be.
I can sit on the porch right next to you,
And feel lightness around me in a moment.
I would raise feeling this bliss and thinking,
Words speak better when they are silent.
