    The Princess Bunny

    author: Prabha Trimurty
    category: Pets
While visiting my friend's rabbitry my eyes fell upon a bunny.
A dozen or so bunnies were resting around mom's tummy
Tiny white fur-ball nestled close to her black n white brother.
Gently, cocooned in my palm and I drew back no further.

Plainly a cuddly toy, this, soft tiny snow white bunny
Came home as a Christmas gift to my daughter, willingly.
Roomed in with her, in a makeshift cardboard box.
The instant, fur ball disliked her restricted lodge
She hopped out and scampered about set out discovery.

Clueless of its gender, we named her "Butch-Abhayi"
An Indian title for a "Lad” till we discovered it was a "Lass"
Eyes, reddish pink, fluff snowy undeniably a majestic bunny,
Butchi frolicked happily, endorsing her upper class pomposity.
Irresistibly elegant, egoistic superstar bowled over my hubby.
Chilling out, stretched out on beds, and prettifying energetically.

Buchi loved a feast; among her favorites were mustard greens.
Willingly devours saying, "Yeah Baby, I like it like that"
Well tuned with Butch's antics, I can interpret her display
Rears up on her hind limbs, standing "periscoping" around.
Tuning her ears forward, eavesdropping, to trap juicy gossip.
When her curiosity is aroused, she positions ears like a television antenna.
My bottom-heavy Princess, gets easily offended, fails to acknowledge.
A cashew treat, as a peace offer, she gawps "Not, your lousy nuts again."

Approval of your grooming is expressed, by gently grinding her teeth.

Suddenly she thumps off saying "No thanks, I'll clean this myself."
Forcing a massage will only fetch her snub,
"Are you trying to annoy me? Because it is working!"
Show of indifference to Buchi begets sneakily chewing on computer cables.
Heroically yanking off “Intel Inside" sticker, giving the heave-ho "Now it’s outside!"
Buchi has her say-so, fondly licking, nose wiggling, “Yeah, I guess you are cool!"
She flops, by rolling onto her sides or on her back, saying, "Must get some "bajjos"
    Meaning: sleep

Incomparable is my Princess Butchi and a trusty of my heart.
All who eye her will be smitten with "Love at first sight."
