The Strange Journey

"Take my hand" he said
"I'll lead you to happiness
I will show you sights
You never thought "imaginable"
So we walked
Amongst the pastures
And the gardens of smiles
Everywhere I looked
There was something
Beyond my wildest imaginations
Children dancing with horses
Horses leading of course
Walls of water as solid as stone
The grass was talking
Holding conversation
In a heated debate
About whether or not
Life existed elsewhere
When I told them that it did
And that I was proof
They said "hush down strange one
You are but a dream"
We walked For what seemed like days
And then we walked some more
"look over here" my guide hollered
To my amazement I saw me
I was doing all of the things
I wanted to do
But were to afraid to try
"Which one of us is real?" I asked
"Neither of you, and both of you.
You exist only to him and he only to you."
"He is your imagination, you are his" he replied
"He is your hopes, desires, dreams and goals.
He is everything you crave in life. "
"You are his failures, mistakes and depression" he continued.
"You are everything he fears in life."
So I walked on
Afraid now of what I might see
There was a carnival
Happy faces everywhere
I could not enter though
My kind were not allowed
"Is this Heaven?" I asked
And with a laugh
That sent shivers down my spine
He said "no this is your Hell"
"A place where all of your dreams can come true
But you cannot touch them
You cannot see them
You cannot hear them
But they are here
They are here for you to taste
But no more"
As I struggled with his words
I asked "can I wake now?"
"Can you wake?" he laughed
With an incredulous look on his face
"You cannot wake
because you were never asleep!"
